Outline the five licensing objectives, and define ‘alcohol’ in relation to the Licensing Scotland Act (2005)
Explain what constitutes an unlicensed sale and the penalties of this, including the functions and powers of Licensing Standards Officers
List the information which must be present in an Operating Plan
Outline ‘licensed hours’ in relation to licensed premises, including offences in relation to operating outside license hours
List offences related to selling alcohol to minors, identify potential underage buyers, and recognize valid proof of age. Communicate clearly to request ID and handle conflicts effectively
Utilise good service practice to establish a safe and well-managed premise and calculate the units of alcohol in a drink using the ABV

This SALPS training course equips you with the knowledge needed to pass the end-of-course assessment and meet all requirements of the Licensing (Scotland) Regulations 2007

The Scottish Award for Licensed Premises Staff (SALPS) training provides the knowledge and confidence needed for alcohol retail responsibilities. After passing the assessment, both the learner and an existing Personal Licence Holder must sign the training record certificate and keep a copy. Assessment

How long will it take? It should take at least 2 hours to complete this course to meet the requirements of the Licensing (Scotland) Regulation 2007 and this must be verified by the signature of an existing Personal Licence Holder.

What type of assessment is it? When you finish the course, you’ll complete an end-of-learning online assessment consisting of 20 questions. 70% of the questions will need to be answered correctly in order to pass and receive a certificate.

What will I receive? Once you’ve passed the assessment included in the course, your digital certificate will be available on the platform.

How long is it valid for? Up to 1 year after purchase.

This course is ideal for anyone in a position that is connected to the sale of alcohol as anyone related to the sale of alcohol in Scotland must have received at least two hours of training that follows a syllabus provided by the Scottish Government.
